Application Centre Test

I have two questions regarding this tool:-

1. Can a test recorded against Server_1 be run against Server_2? From what
I have observed - the Forms authentication login does not seem to work when a
test script is run against a machine other than the one used to record the
test script.

2. Is it possible to make the test data dynamic - for instance, read it
from a file? I have looked at the code generated and it looks like there is
a whole load of "viewstate" stuff - and I'm not sure if I can/should change
this?
Should we just bite the bullet and buy a test tool rather than hope that the
'free' MS one will do the job - if so anf suggestions?

Any help much appreciated!
