VS.NET Toolbox ???

I'm playing around with VS.NET for the first time and working thru a book.
The book directs me to the Toolbox. I click on the Toolbox tab. The book
mentions a 'DATA tab'. Well I don't see it! All I see is 'clipboard ring' and
'general' and below that greyed out 'pointer'. Where is the Toolbox? Am I
misisng something? The book also shows a 'Crystal Reports' tab which I should
have (I have Crystal on my PC) but its nowhere to be seen.

to see the data tab you need to be in the "view designer" (where you can see
the form controls)
try that

That would help me but I]ve no idea what the 'view designer' is or where it
is. I did drop down every menu and it was nowhere to be found. where is it?

view -> designer

There is no such option listed. Do I have to open a project first? When I try
to do that, I get a message saying ASP.NET is not installed on the web
server. I did not install any of this stuff myself (I don't even have the
authority) it was all done by our desktop support group.

msCertified,

What you ask is only showed when you have a screen in design mode. Can that
be the problem. By instance not when you are creating a class or a module,
however is when you are creating any kind of Form or component using the
designer

I hope that this is the solution to your question?
