SourceSafe / IDE corruption

guy
two of us are working on a WinForms solution (5 projects) using VSS, all the
forms are in a UI project.
If a form is loaded into the ide and left open while work is done on other
classes then very often (about 30% of the time) when the form is closed the
ide the pops up the check out dialog for the form . If Cancel is selected the
dialog reappears. if OK is selected then sometimes all is ok however on most
occaisions most of the controls on the form vanish. The controls are still
defined on the form but the code to assign them to the panel. group box etc
has gone.
the only solution appears to be to allow the checkout and then immediately
do an undo checkout.
I have had this problem at two sites now, with both VS2002 and VS2003
Has any one else had this problem?
