Problem with ASP.NET 2.0 and FPSE 2002 on IIS 6

I have the .NET 2.0.40607 build installed on an IIS 6 server on Win2003 Std.
IIS will not let me configure the Front Page Server Extensions 2002 for new sites. When I try, I get a username and password prompt, but no user names or passwords are accepted (not even the admin). When I try to manage the FPSE on the defualt site (which must have been configured automatically) I am given the fpadmdll.dll file spit up as a text file (which of course looks like jibberish for the most part).
I have posted this on the FPSE community, but was told to ask over here in regards to the ASP.NET stuff.
Any ideas?
