problem with asp outside of Visual Studio

.. . this is probably an amazingly DUMB question, but I'm wondering what i'm doing wrong with ASP pages that work quite fine when launched from within Visual Studio, but don't seem to work at all when opened directly from their directory location.
I have changed the configuration manager option to 'release' and rebuilt the solutions. I am attempting to open the .aspx file with Internet Explorer. Anyone?

We're wondering too.

I have a page like that. Sometimes it works, sometims it doesn't. What do
you suppose the problem is?
