SQL Server History

Jason Mauss

I am writing a paper on the history and evolution of SQL Server and I'm
having a hard time finding good resources that talk about the product from
it's beginning at Sybase and over the years at Microsoft. Below are a list
of links I have so far but I was hoping maybe some MVP's or Microsoft
employees might be able to point me at some better resources or tell me who
to email.

I was at MS when they began the Sybase / Ashton Tate partnership. Perhaps I
can provide some insight. I remember some of the details and the inside info
from those days. I was asked to form a team of course developers and
trainers to build courseware around SQL Server. I did so and taught courses
based on the Sybase / OS/2 product for 5 years as it evolved to IIRC 6.5 or
7.0 when MSU folded.

I would be happy to talk to you about this. I'll be at home this afternoon.
I live in Redmond and I'm in the book.
