Parsing the value of a radio button

I'm able to grab the input text from a textbox and use it as a
variable named "textbox1" (and textbox1.text) in my subroutines and
coding:
<asp:TextBox id="TextBox1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
but when i try to grab the value of an item selected from a radio
button
<asp:RadioButton id="NBA" runat="server"
GroupName="Sport"></asp:RadioButton>

...it doesnt work. Also, I can't use value="7" or whatever, without
getting an "Invalid value" compilation error.

???
