versioning with vs.net

hi you all,
i need support for manage versioning in vs.net ....
in vb6 in the project properties i set the version app.major.minor
and then i make exe , ocx , with this printed ... simple ...
in .net and specially for asp.net project , how can i manage version ?
i have the "configuration properties" menu of the project with 2 default
configuration , (debug , relaese ) ... must i add my new configuration ?
release 1.0 , release 1.1 , and so on ... which is the best way ?
what'is the result ? each file is marked with this value ? ....
some tips ? ....

Hi -

Use the AssemblyInfo.cs file to specify your version with the
attribute

[assembly:AssemblyVersion(1.0.0.0)]

and specify * and the end (1.0.0.*) for incrementing automatically.
