When I try to create a new VB.Net application on the localhost (Windows 2000
Pro), I am getting the following error:
Unable to create or open the Web project located at the following
URL:'http://localhost/WebApplication1'. 'HTTP/1.1 500 internal Server Error'
If I create it on the production web server (also Windows 2K Pro), it works
fine.
Also, if I try to open an existing .aspx page on the localhost, I get:
Server Application Unavailable
ASP and HTML pages open correctly.
I have tried both localhost and the IP address of the machine, with the same
results
I have also tried comparing the settings on the local machine and the
production server, but haven't been able to find any differences.
Other things I have done so far:
a.. deleted the ASPNET user and run aspnet_regiis.exe -i
b.. Deleted IUSER, uninstalled IIS and re-installed
c.. Deleted ASPNET, IUSER, Uninstalled IIS and Visual Studio and
re-installed both
I suspect that it is a user or permissions issue, as I was trying to get my
app to connect to an Access database on another machine when everything
stopped working, but deleting the users and re-installing hasn't corrected
the problems.
Any help would be appreciated.
