Question about Web Service

I have a web service that opens a remoting channel to a SOAP listener
on a different host that uses SingleCall. I'm consuming the web
service from another page.

Is this assertion correct?
Every page calling on this service webmethod gets a new instance (in a
new process) of the webmethod which would need to open another channel
to the listener. And when the calling page is finished, the webmethod
(and its open remoting channel) are ended ready for garbage
collection.
The reason I'm asking is that what I have seen so far indicates that
remoting channels can't be closed - their process must be ended. And
that trying to re-open a channel in the same process fails.

Regards,

Dave Lewis
