.NET Versioning question.

Hi,

I'm very confused about .Net versioning. Traditionally,
windows version numbers consisted of
<Major>.<Minor>.<Release>.<Build> components.

Now I see in the .Net world that an assembly version
number has <Major>.<Minor>.<Build>.<Revision>

Is there a reason why the Build number in .Net is the
third component, or is it synonymous with the <Release>
component of tradition version numbers?

Simon.
