Help Not Installed

I installed .NET 2003, it completed. I then inserted the MSDN 2003 CD and clicked the "wrong" install button. I guess I got the one with the autoplay as opposed to the one that came from .NET. Now, I get the "Help Not Installed" error. Mind you I can go to the INDEX and see all of the help and jump to the various links, however the F1 button, etc. does not function. Does anyone know how to get .NET to point to the install of the help files. I did use the default installation paths.

Hi,

Thank you for your posting.
Based on my experience, you have problems to access to the Help in the VS
..NET 2003 IDE because you hadn't installed the MSDN properly. In order to
intergrate with the VS .NET 2003, you should have installed the MSDN
library coming with the VS .NET 2003, or MSDN version April 2003 or later.
Which version of MSDN have you installed? Was the installation successful?
Any error message?

Should you have any concerns please feel free to post here. I'll be glad to
follow up.

January 2003 was what my IT group gave me to install, yes it was successful.
It even shows up in the index list after I say OK to the original message.
It seems like something isn't integrated correctly. I will see if my IT
group has the April 2003 disks - we have the Uni Sub so hopefully we do. If
we do and I install that separately, should that solve the problem?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
There are two groups of MSDN Lib can be intergrated with VS .NET 2003:
1. VS .NET 2003 version of MSDN Library, which should be labeled as
Feb.2003 instead of Jan.2003
2. April 2003 MSDN or later versions

Based on my experiece, your VS .NET 2003 retail product contains the Jan
2003 edition of MSDN Library which does not Integrete with 2003. If this is
the case, the problem should be resolved after you install the April 2003
MSDN. You may also contact your retailer or Microsoft Online, asking for a
replacement.

If the problem still exits after installing the right version of MSDN Lib,
please don't hesitate to post here. I'll be glad to follow up.
