"Compiler could not be created" VS.NET 2003 error - about time we got a decent answer....

Does anybody have a decent solution for the "Compiler could not be
created" error message that appears when starting VS.NET 2003?

I've got a side-by-side installation with VS.NET 2002.
VS.NET 2002 works fine.
VS.NET 2003 can't open any project due to the above error.
I've reinstalled Framework 1.0. No change.
I've reinstalled Framework 1.1. No change.
I've reinstalled VS.NET 2003. No change.

What should I do? I haven't found any decent answer so far in the
newsgroups.

YES, I've installed some addins, including CodeStore, VBXC etc. I've
uninstalled some too. (I'm expecting that question) What could be
wrong, though? Is there some configuration property in 2003 that can
change during add-in install/uninstall tasks?

Please, someone from MSFT reply with a detailed answer. The KB does
not have anything relevant except for one article that does not apply
to my case (all .NET directories are present with their initial names
and nothing has been moved or renamed or altered in any way).
