about w3wp.exe

Hi All,

I'm using w2k3 and IIS6, is it true that when I start
the .net web application, there will be a process
w3wp.exe? As my application is using asp.net, but when I
start the web site, there is no w3wp.exe in task
manager. And a process that related to this web
application always stop suddenly. Could anyone help?
Thank you.

It's correct that ASP.NET apps run under the process
W3WP.EXE on IIS6 (aspnet_wp.exe on IIS5.x). Make sure you
have checked the "Show processes from all users" checkbox
in the Windows Task Manager. It will run under User
Name "NETWORK SERVICE".

I don't completely understand your second question. If you
mean that the INETINFO process (IIS Admin Service)
suddenly stops without any error message, you should check
out Microsoft KB article 823596 on
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;823596>. If it's something else, could you please give
some more information?
