New Windows Laptop .net framework issues.

1 New Member
My girlfriend recently got a pretty decent laptop with windows 10. Recently an issue has come up where when she opens one of two applications that use .net framework to run (ShareX and MTG:Arena) it gives her the error message "To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v4.0"

I like to think I'm decent at troubleshooting PC issues, I have done a ton of googling and tried to resolve this with no luck. The issue with Windows 10 is that .net framework is pre-installed in windows 10 so I don't even see how this happened besides made some sort of corruption.

I have gone into the windows features settings and turned .net framework on/off including the 3.0 versions, rebooting the laptop inbetween in every which way. I've also tried turning it off and re-installing the .net framework but it always says that I already have it installed. I've also tried running the .net framework repair tool and it never finds any issues.

It seems that the issue is actually with Windows or the .net framework and not the application(s) due to the fact that there is two known applications having this issue, giving the same error message, but just in case I tried re-installing one with no luck.

I'm reaching out to bytes in hopes someone has encountered this issue or maybe has some insight they can provide to resolve this. My last ditch effort would be to reinstall windows.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide if the issue isn't clear enough.

Hi all. I've created a web service that runs fine on my development PC running W2K. The service is consumed by an ASPX page. (written using vb.net). I can deploy the webservice without any issues to another W2K production server and discover the service from the rebuilt ASPX application (now referencing the production version). The issue I'm having is that when I deploy to a Windows Server 2003 environment it doesnt seem to want to work...

I am running Windows Server 2003 SP1 and .Net Framework 1.1 I want to upgrade to .Net 2.0 and I'm pretty sure I should uninstall 1.1 first. Problem is that .NET 1.1 doesn't show up in Control Panel->Add Remove Programs. Anyone know the correct way to upgrade to .NET 2.0? Tom

Hi all. Can you please tell me if you have any problems to use managed C++ DLL libraries that wrap some code from unmanaged external DLL 32 bit libraries? If you called such managed 32 bit DLL from C# 32 bit code under Windows x64 environment, would it all clash? Can you confirm if this configuration works out for you? I'm really puzzled whether this is some configuration bug going on here, or more profound issue.

Hello, I keep having issues with installing and/or updating .NET framework versions. I contacted microsoft support and they sent me a dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip, which I ran and then rebooted. I also ran CCleaner to check for registry entries and it found 385 missing dll entries, which I also cleaned up. (I thought the cleanup tool was meant to do that!). I then rebooted again. As instructed by Microsoft technical support I downloaded .net...

I got locked in one of those update loops. You know what I mean, probably. My Windows 10 would start an automatic update, then fail, and then reset itself to a previous version. This would happen all of the time. I managed to use one of the methods on this link to successfully do an update: https://www.alphr.com/microsoft/1001411/how-to-fix-windows-update-in-windows-10-if-it-becomes-stuck-1 Now, here is the reason why I am making...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
