Update XML files using XML query language?

Could I use the XML query language (and with appropriate XML query engine)
to update XML files?

I am pretty sure about querying, but not about updating.

Thanks!

No, currently you can't use it as a "real" update language with insertions
and similar. You can however query the source document, alter it through
transformations/queries and write the result to the original file. That is
probably not as efficient as updating should be.:-)

Thanks for your comments.
Do you know where I could find more information about altering querying
expressions to achieve the updating function?

Thank you!

Jim

Gentlemen, I'm currently in the process of designing a language which will be used to specify sets of files on a WebDAV server, encoded in a URL. The aims of the language are to (in no particular order): * Be concise, aesthetic and easy to type * Be as similar as possible to existing query languages * Allow for (nested) boolean operations * Be cross-platform (so don't include any characters which can't be used in filenames on *NIX or...

I am extremely new at SQL Server2000 and t-sql and I'm looking to create a simple trigger. For explanation sake, let's say I have 3 columns in one table ... Col_1, Col_2 and Col_3. The data type for Col_1 and Col_2 are bit and Col_3 is char. I want to set a trigger on Col_2 to compare Col_1 to Col_2 when Col_2 is updated and if they're the same, set the value on Col_3 to "Completed". Can someone please help me? Thanks, Justin

I want to be able to generate SQL statements that will go through a list of data, effectively row by row, enquire on the database if this exists in the selected table- If it exists, then the colums must be UPDATED, if not, they must be INSERTED. Logically then, I would like to SELECT * FROM <TABLE> WHERE ....<Values entered here>, and then IF FOUND UPDATE <TABLE> SET .... <Values entered here> ELSE INSERT INTO <TABLE> VALUES <Values...

Hi all. I am having a strange problem. I am developping an application that acceses an Access db through Jet (.UDL files). I have writen parametric INSERT queries that work fine. I am now trying to write a parametric UPDATE query but I always get a return error code that the language manual translates to:

I have an UPDATE query that is always setting 0 records. When I cut and paste the SQL into Access and use it, it fails in the same way unless I coerce the date fields to be '=now()', in which case it works. I never get errors, and if I don't try to update the date fields, I always update the expected number of rows (1). When I do date conversion using the same conversion function, then call CRowset::Add() to add a record to the same table,...

People, I am at my wit's end. I am using the exact code from http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/071002-1.aspx And yet, the code does not manage to update the database. When I go to update my database, I am able to get the form fields, and I am able to replace the data, but when I go "update", the old data remains. I have done everything correct, including this:

I'm working on an ASP.NET 2.0 application in Visual Studio 2005 that accesses a Sybase database back end. We're using Sybase SQL Anywhere 9.0.2.3228. I have installed and registered the Sybase .NET 2.0 DataProvider (iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll) into the GAC so it can be used in the ProviderName property of a SQLDataSource and loads properly at run time. The application I'm writing is a bit more complex than the example I'm about to...

I will ask the question first then fumble thru trying to explain myself so i dont waste too much of your time. Question / Statement - Every mdb table needs a PrimaryKey ( or maybe an index - i havnt tested the index yet ) so you can use an .UPDATE( dataTable ) on the data adapter. Otherwise you will get an exception error. Is this statement true? ---- Now me fumbling thru

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
