Problems with installing windows service using setup project

6 New Member
Hey

I created a windows service and added it to a setup project. The setup project should install the service and run it but for some reasons it doesn't install the service and gives following error: "Service cannot be started. The service process could not connect to the service controller"

I get this error after it runs the service in the background after a while but service is never installed. I have checked it so many times. It is totally strange and new to me. Could someone please help me with this problem? Thanking in advance!

I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work. Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000 Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having succeeded in doing it. I have tried...

List I've made a .NET windows service in C++, then I added an installer to the solution. I added the 'Project Output' from my .NET service as a package for the installer to install however it does not install my program as a service on the client machine. Is there something special I need to do? Shouldn't the 'Project Output' show the installer that I have made a service and then install the thing properly?

I'm working with VS.NET 2003 and .NET 1.1 (not SP1) on Windows XP SP1. My application is using the Windows Installer Bootstrap. (I may have also installed a module which detects requirements (.NET 1.1 -> MsiNetAssembly Support.) I have a few issues and questions regarding the MSI and its properties. * This may be my biggest annoyance at the moment. When the installer creates the target directory, it's setting them as read-only. When the...

Hi all, at the moment i am developing an app which is sort of an interface to copy data from one database to another and it shall run as a service. As there are several databases the app must be installed and run in multiple instances with the configuration data (database, login, etc.) stored in an app.config file. Up to now I was concerned with Windows CE apps only so both running an app as service and running multiple instances of...

Hello: I wrote an .exe that I would like to be called by a service I am deploying to a server. However, I am not sure how to tell the setup project to include the .exe. Also, I do not know how to tell the service where the .exe actually resides on the server. I would like to prevent hard-coding it since the software will be distributed to different offices in my company.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
