C# - Infinite loop when redirecting to a mobile webpage from the default login.

6 New Member
Hi,

I'm currently in the process of constructing a stripped down version of the company website that will be show to people logging in from a mobile device. When the user logs in to the homepage, he or she is directed to the homepage default.aspx, where they can login. As part of the Page_Load of this page, I added a check if the Request.Browser .IsMobileDevice , and in that case redirected to the custom mobile login page: Response.Redire ct("~/mobile/login.aspx", true). However, the redirection never happens, and instead the program returns to the Page_Load in default.aspx, which creates an infinite loop. Does anyone know why this could be? I have noticed in the output console that when the redirection happens there is an unhandled ThreadAbortExce ption in App_Web_<app specific string>.dll, does this mean anything? I have tried stepping through the code but as soon as I enter the Redirect the method returns right back to the top of Page_Load.

Thanks,

Problem solved,

Response.Redire ct is just a suggestion, which somehow the webpage didn't answer to. I guess the urge to take me to the default page was more important. However, the Server.Transfer method terminated the current request completely and initiated a new one to the mobile webpage, a command instead of a suggestion. In case you are interested check out:

If you are not familiar with the halting problem, I will not go into it in detail but it states that it is impossible to write a program that can tell if a loop is infinite or not. This is a fallacy built on the assumption of mythical infinite all powerfull machines. In reality we deal with finite machines that are capable of two states in a loop, they either terminate, or repeat themselves. In the mythical halting problem scenario...

Greetings, I have encountered what appears to be a fairly common problem: RedirectFromLoginPage is not redirecting to RedirectUrl. I have tried all the advice that I could on the 'net, and nothing has worked yet. My problem is very simple. I want to redirect from a login page to the default page in one application. I am not crossing over to other applications in other directories on the server. Here is a description of the problem:

Any idea why the WAP client will work with some phones but give this infinite loop error with others? Thanks, -SJ

Hi, I'm currently working on creating a stripped down part of a company web page, that will be accessed from cellphone. The problem I have is that the Windows Forms authentication makes it difficult for me to create more than one login page. In my web.config file I have it set so that unauthenticated users will be directed to the default.aspx page which handles logging in. As part of the default.aspx Page_Load I transfer users to a...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
