C#-Form: How can I open the Design View file of a form?

8 New Member
Hi everybody,

I am just studying C#, I'm very beginner.
I just opened some example from a book and I don't see any design view of the form.
Also I tried to open another solution which I did before in an other example and I closed the window which contains the design view of the form (the one with the title "Form1.cs [Design]") and I don't know where to find it again.

Thanks for help,
Steven

That would be Visual Studio 2005 yes? That was when they started splitting the files up.
If you have the project/solution explorer open, there is a "+" next to Forms, that will expand into the designer files as well.

Yes, it's Visual Studio 2005.
I tried also before to look in Solution Explorer, but I double-clicked everything and I could't find the design form.
Now as you said, I tried again, but I found only 2 subbranches for a form.
I have a form frmMain.cs and it has 2 branches when I open the "+" sign:
frmMain.Designe r.cs
frmMain.resx

before I tried to double-click all the branches and none of them was the design form. Now I realised that I have to open the "frmMain.cs " which is the node where the "+" sign is opening. (I thought is just a folder, but actually is the design form)

"frmMain.Design er.cs" should contain the designer code
it will most likely be collapsed in a #region #endregion tag

I have a form with a Form1_Load() Subprocedure and no other code. For some reason, the design view does not come up. If I add a new form, the design view does come up. The form does appear when I execute the EXE. The design view for this form use to come up but I'm not sure when it stopped appearing. I do notice the form1.vb and class1.vb files in the Solution Explorer (Visual Studio.NET) have little arrows in the bottom left corner...

In my office everyone has access to a database. All the computers/ users work well with it. One computer, no matter who is signed in, defaults to design view when opening any database. We don't want them to use design view and since other people are logged into that database it hampers the users ability to work with it. Any help will be appreciated, I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I have several PopUp forms in my database. Before today, if I switched to Design View, the form was in the same position as in Form View. Currently if I switch to Design View, the form is positioned below any open forms, sometimes as many as 5 screens below the active forms (lots of blank space here). Access adds a vertical scroll bar to accomodate this. No added software for at least a week (Microsoft Updates & Virus AutoUpdates only for...

I just got a new lenovo laptop. It has a 2G processor and 4G of memory. When I go to an aspx page in VS2005 and try to open design view, it crawls. I can watch at the bottom of the screen, "Creating control 'lblPassword'", for example, as it goes through the controls. Even a simple screen could take a minute to paint. More complicated ones hang VS. Any ideas?

Anyone know an easy way to toggle between Form and Design view with a hotkey? I know you can switch from Design view to Form view with hotkey F5. But is there a hotkey to switch back (from Form view to Design)? Shift-F5 is not it. I've searched Google and I can't believe I couldn't find an answer. Please help. Adam

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
