Manageing User State in ASP.NET

8 New Member
Hi guys,

I got a question regarding state management among ASP pages.
I have about 50 parameters need to pass from the first pageto the second, third or even fouth pages. I am currently using Session to mangement them, and just wondering if there are good methods to remember a large amont of parameters.
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!

Using Session will be very expensive in terms of performance for this many variables. I recommend saving these parameters to a database each time the page is changed. Then on the page_load event of your next page call a stored procedure that will return the data for this particular record_id. Using a stored procedure in the page_load of the next page will have much better performance than accessing all of these parameters via Session.

I am working on a site in which I would like to have two dropdowns that will allow a user to navigate through the administrative pages of the site. The first would allow the user to choose the particular site that they would like to edit. The second would allow the user to select which admin screen they would like to edit. The second dropdown needs to be populated based on the selection in the first one. I want to encapsulate these...

Is there a way to get a user control to remember its state across pages? I have a standard page layout I use with a header and footer as user controls. Each page uses the same layout by means of copy paste (I hear this will improve in ASP.Net 2 via master pages). When I navigate from one page to the next the header and footer user controls lose their state because they are effectively different instances of the user control. Is there...

Hello: We are implementing a work flow system. We would like there to be one site hosting all the different work flows. Each state in the work flow is to be associated with a web user control (or something equivalent) that can be loaded dynamically and displayed. The control will provide events to allow the host web site to observe user interaction and eventually transition the work flow to the next state. We are right now doing some...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
