Manifest Generation and Editing Tool (Mage.exe)

Where I can find to download "Manifest Generation and Editing Tool (Mage.exe)
" or "Manifest Generation and Editing Tool, Graphical Client (MageUI.exe) ".

Is there any other tool which will help me to include with an application
(developed using VB6.0) an embedded manifest that defines its execution level.
And how to generate a manifest for an exe.

thanks

mage.exe is part of .NET 2.0 SDK. This tool only helps creating application
and deployment manifest files. You may have to look for some other
tool/utility to embed the mage-generated XML as a manifest resource.

Hi I am working on a small helper tool to our main application. The tool uses SQLDMO to connect to the SQL Server 2000 database and allows us to cofigure the users who are allowed to use our main application and some other tasks. It is a .Net app developed in C# on Windows XP. I wanted to use visual styles to make this application look like an XP app. For doing that I need to use a manifest file. The manifest file looks like the...

We are having a lot of trouble with problems relating to failures relating to 'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'xxx' does not match the assembly reference" but none of us here really understand how this could be an issue. The assemblies that the system is complaining about are ones that we build here and we're not changing version numbers on anything. The errors come and go with no apparent rhyme or reason. We do not...

After several frustrating attempts to wrap a native DLL w a C++/CLI DLL, I finally got an assembly to compile, only to find a *runtime* error. The app comes up fine. Test dialog displays. Clicking on the button that creates the wrapper class causes an exception, not in the button's event handler, but in Application.Run() within Main(). The error: ! System.IO.FileNotFoundException was unhandled Message="The specified module could not...

I have a C#.exe with a Win32.dll (no com is involved). I would like to make an assembly manifest for the Win32.dll, in order to use ClickOnce. I can not figure out how to use mt.exe, or mage.exe, or set up VS IDE to automatically computed the size and hash values for the <file> section of the manifest.

Is there a brief tutorial somewhere on how to use the VC8 linker to generate a manifest for an isolated application with a dependency section for an arbitrary dll? There are some implementation details that I don't understand. Supposing I want to bind my application to a specific version of kernel32.dll using a hash, for example? What hash is used? Is it the hash generated by the CryptCATAdmin* functions or just a simple hash of the...

Sorry for off topic here. I would like to know will it be possible to create a manifest for non .net application? I have a program created with VC 2.1 and Install Sheild as well. I want those two programs to require admin privileges to run in vista. I know I can do it in VS 2005 by adding additional manifest during building. How can I do it for the other apps? Thanks.

Hi yall! I got a locally published website and client (deployed by ClickOnce) that I install on several servers. I'm using mage.exe to update and re-sign the application and deployment manifests. Everything worked like a charm when using 2.0 Now we moved to 3.5 and I updated mage.exe and added the now necessary Microsoft.Build... assembly. The whole resigning process worked fine, but when I try to install the client on a fresh machine,...

Hi, I am trying to make numpy build with python 2.6 on windows, and it has been a bumpy road. Building with MS tools works OK, but building with mingw is still problematic. The problems are linked to manifest, and msvcr versions issues. Here is my understanding and how far I got: - python 2.6 is built with VS 2008, and msvcr 9: numpy has to be built against the exact same runtime to work. - msvcr 9 is not publicly available on most...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
