XPath asp:Label "The server tag is not well formed" compiler error

I have the a repeater which is databound to an XmlDatasource. Inside
the repeater is a Label as follows:

<asp:Label ID="lbl" runat="server" Text='<%#
XPath("Asset_Me tadata[App_Data[@Name = 'NVOD_Genre']/@Value")%>' />

This gives me a "The server tag is not well formed". It seems to be
because of the single quotes in the XPath statement.

I've tried changing the single quotes to &apos; which compiles fine,
but gives an "Invalid Token" runtime error.

If I use it on an HTML control w/out runat="server" it works fine,
however the visible="false" property doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Try it like this:

<asp:Label ID="lbl" runat="server" Text="<%#
XPath(&quot;Ass et_Metadata[App_Data[@Name =
'NVOD_Genre']/@Value&quot;)%> " />

Hello, I really hope that someone can help me resolve my problem, I've been working on it for the past few days, to no avail. I have an asp:label which gets its value from the database, but what I'm trying to do is to get that value (from the asp:label) and place it inside the javascript input value. I can post sample code if required.

I would like to turn on a label control in javascript with the onfocus event of another control by setting the Visible property to true. When I try and reference this label control it says "Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.Form1.lblSigGrantor' is null or not an object". I wrote a loop and iterated through the elements for the form and this control doesn't show up. Code listed below, please help. Thanks, John Holmes

A day or two ago, I wrote a quick ASPX page with a CS codebehind using Visual Studio .NET 2005 -- it worked, I saved it and closed the project. Today, I came back to the project, reopened the solution, and was greeted with the following error: ======================================================================== It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. Is there any recommended solution to this error message? I get it *all the time.* It's seemingly random, but it obviously happens right after I change some code so a page or the app recompiles. I'll refresh the page, and here's this error. It has no other information, except a link to click for "Detailed Compiler Output" that has nothing but the command line that was invoked to compile. This error has occurred on:

When I use an ASP:Label with runat="server", and in JavaScript I use innerText on the ASP:Label, the Text property is not reflected in an event postback on the form. ASP:TextBox is not an alternative for me because it doesn't produce text which can be inline and wrappable with surrounding text. Is there anyway to accomplish what I am trying to do? Thanks

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
