Crystal Reports XI using SQL stored procedure

1 New Member
I have created a crystal report in XI that uses a stored procedure with two date parameters. When i run it in Crystal reports it prompts me for the dates. When i put it in a view in a .aspx page, it fails with this message:

Method 'IPromptingHTML RenderOption_re serve10' on type 'CrystalDecisio ns.ReportAppSer ver.Prompting.P romptingHTMLRen derOptionClass' from assembly 'CrystalDecisio ns.ReportAppSer ver.Prompting, Version=11.0.33 00.0, Culture=neutral , PublicKeyToken= 692fbea5521e130 4' is overriding a method that has been overridden.

How do have the user enter in the parameters for the dates and pass it to the SQL stored procedures and then run the report????

BTW - I'm new to crystal reports and ASP.NET, but not new to ASP.NET

Thanks!

Could you use a web form to get the user to input the date?

Hi nguyenmiket,

If I understand your problem correctly you are receiving an error when trying to pass parameters to a SQL SP?

Passing scoping parameters to Crystal Reports is best accomplished as follows...
Place this code where you call the report...
RptParams RollParams = new RptParams(this) ;
RollParams.Show Dialog();
if (lSuccess)
{
RollsByFormClas s RollsByForm = new RollsByFormClas s(strFormula);
RollsByForm.Sho w();
}

Place this code in your report form...
if (strFormula != string.Empty)
crReportDocumen t.DataDefinitio n.RecordSelecti onFormula = strFormula;

strFormula contains all the parameters you want to pass to the report and completely replaces the scoping phrases in Crystal.

eg: strFormula = "{Customer.Surn ame} = " + TextBox1.Text.T rim();

I'm not familiar mwith Crystal XI (Still using 10), but I think the concpet is the same.
Good luck.

cheers,
Mark Chimes

I have a problem with a C++ DCOM application that prints Crystal Reports with data from Oracle. Hello: I have a stored procedure for generating our invoices in Crystal Reports. I have added a new field to the SP, but when I try to add the field to my Crystal Report invoice, the field isn't available in the list. However, if I create a new, blank report using the same stored procedure as the datasource, the field is available. I've seemingly tried every iteration of "Verify Database" to no avail. The obvious answer would be to...

Hello, I've scoured groups and the web, and haven't found a question like mine answered. I'm using Visual Studio 2003 with the Crystal Reports it comes bundled with and SQL Server 2000. Throughout the project I'm working on, I often find I need a temporary table displayed in a report, something that I cannot seem to do. Since temporary tables are so useful, I cannot imagine Crystal Reports wouldn't have a way to get such

I exported a column of type float to SQL Server using DTS. In Crystal reports, it 'sees' the column as a string! Is 'float' the best type to use? Must I create a formula field in CR to 'correct' for this?

Dear NG, I am just learning object orientated programing in general and C# in particular. My first real project is an inventory application using a SQL database. I have an item master editor working fine now and it is time to write some paper reports from data stored in SQL. I decided to give Crystal Reports a try.

I have been fighting through my first crystal report in VS2003.NET and have made some headway. Here is what I've done: 1. Created a crystal report in VS2003 from a SQL stored procedure with parameters through the GUI. 2. Finally got past the logon failure error to display the report using the viewer. I assume that default parameters are being used since it does display some data and the SP won't run without being passed some values.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
