Publish and Front Page Extension

I have created a Windows Forms app and want to publish it to a web site
(on our intranet) so that users can click a link to install the latest
on their desktops.

My problem is that when I choose the location using the Remote Site tab
on the Publish page, I get an error stating that Front Page extensions
are not installed on the web server.

What problems will I encounter by installing Front Page Extensions?
Although this is just a test server, there are several other test web
sites on it. Will installing FPSE cause any problems with those test

If I choose to publish locally, what must I copy to the web site?

Can anyone point me to some articles about the Publish feature of
VS2005 when used with Windows Forms apps?

VS 2005 Professional RTM (8.0.50727.42) on Windows 2000 ASP.NET website Last week I converted a 1.1 ASP.NET (VB) project to 2.0. The conversion was painless on the VB code side. It was a lot of work however converting from a pseudo master page to a true master page but only from the HTML 4.0 to XHTML 1.0 standpoint. VS 2005 IDE seems to be significantly slower than VS 2003. I upgraded my PC memory to 1GB (which helped) but have an...

Every time I make a change to the project, I drag/drop from the app folder to my web host. Is there a way to "publish" changes from vs.net? If so, how? Thanks.

I'm looking for a one-step publish to server solution. I'm developing my web app in VS.NET and use my local IIS for testing. When ready to publish the latest release, I'd like to be able to hit "publish" so all the dll and aspx files are uploaded. I do not want source files on the live server. I do have full admin access to the live server I wish to publish to. Right now I'm using dreamweaver to publish, since I can select which files I...

Basically, how do I know that the release versions of all components are being published? The Build | Configuration Manager is confusing me a little in VS2005. I have three projects in my solution: 1) web service website. 2) SOAP Extension Class Lib that compiles to a dll 3) WinForm application with a proxy to test the web service.

Hi, I've read many posts in several news groups, but can't figure out how to publish my website. The specific error I'm getting (on the "successfully published website") is "Could not load the assembly 'App_Web_vxfyglsm'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page". I checked - The assembly DOES exist in the target web folder.

I seem to have read somewhere that one can do this by copying the code-behind page into the .aspx file. Is there an easier way? I tried to create a simple web page (I just need a quick registration page that is temporary). Do I really need to logon to the server, create a virtual directory and all that junk, just to publish my page? I tried simply to publish using the FTP publish and here is what I got: Configuration Error...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
