Webservice fails when called remotely, error in <Security> header

Any advice for the following situation?

I've deployed my webservice on a remote server, e.g.
http://mywebservice.co.uk/summary.asmx. The windows clients attempts to
access this webservice and fails, the error returned is "there was an error
processing the <Security> header".

If I run the client on the server there is no problem.

Help!

OK, let me try....

The Web Service has been implemented using WS-Security so it expects a
Username/Password token. I've built this using MS WSE 2.0 in VS.NET.

I've also created a Windows Form application which acts as a client to the
webservice. The WS resides on e.g. http://mywebservices.co.uk/summary.asmx,
this is the URL (?WSDL appended) used to create a web reference for the
client.

Before deploying the webservice it resided on my local machine, I tested it
here using the local URL (http://localhost/....) as the web reference.

Now when I call one of the web service functions, supplying my username and
password, from my client (on my machine) the call fails with the error I
posted earlier. If I move my client, to the server holding the web service,
and call the WS function again supplying my username and password it works.

I hope that info will help, if not what kind of info can I supply?

I have a web service that I am calling by digitally signing the message with WSE 2.0 SP2. It runs fine on my PC. I uploaded the WS to our server, and if I call that from my PC that also works fine. The problem comes in when I try to call the WS from another machine besides mine or the host server. When I do that, I get "An error was discovered processing the <Security> header"... Is there something else I need to install on other...

I've encounted a pretty strange problem and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I have a web service that consumes an XML file as well as a few other parameters. This web service works fine if I use the web test interface. It also works fine if I call it from an ASP.NET page that has a text box where the XML is pasted and then passed on. However, I get an exception if I use an <input type="file"> control on the ASP page that allows...

Hi, this is a repost of a question yesterday. I am using WSE2.0sp1 for my security implementation for web services. A customer is using WebLogic to implement their calls to my service. The call fails with a "token could not be authenticated.." message. I noticed the customer did not have <wsse:Nonce></wsse:Nonce> <wsu:Created></wsu:Created> Tags in their security header. I took their message, and manually added a some nonce/created...

Just a quick question I think... I have a web service, implemented with WSE2 and secured with WS-Security Username tokens - When I autogenerate WSDL (using ?WSDL query strings) the WS-Security information in not conveyed anywhere in the WSDL. So what is the best way to express my security requirements in my web service metadata? I think I have at least 3 options: Option 1, I think I can express WS-Security in a WSDL document by...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
