Background: Our main menu is built using a simple unordered list containing other ULs. There is a table on a page that holds the subnav. Because of certain circumstances, I need to build the subnav dynamically on each page. I wrote this script in about 15 minutes because it was a "scope-creep" kinda thing. Now that I have a bit of time, for...

I'm supporting an application at work. Below are some code segments that I can't understand how they work. First let me say, I would never code this standard. I'm just really creeped out that it works. Here's the setup. I have a function, called GetEmployeeCertifications, that is going to make a call to a SQL DB and return a result set. ...

I was in the middle of a discussion about my page at http://www.douglaidlaw.net/boykett/ when my computer trashed its hard drive. I have the printout of the main reply, but I had just answered a query about the OBJECT tag being put there only to keep a Validator happy. I would like to know what the response was. Google groups doesn't seem to...

So I have some 'groups' which 'users' can join. There is no enrollment limit on these 'groups'. How should I store the list of users enrolled in the group? I'd like to be able to quickly determine the groups a user is in, and the users in a group. Seems like a common problem but I can't come up with an effecient solution.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
