Problem with Large Fonts and MDI application

We have a WinForm application developed with VB.NET with Visual Studio
..NET 2003 version 7.1.3088 and .NET Frameworks version 1.1.4322

We have an application that using an MDI interface and is working fine
for 95% of our user base. The other five percent have to have the large
fonts options on their boxes to be able.

When they bring up any of the screens in the MDI the screens are clipped
and they can get to the scroll bars. It's like the screen is being
drawn past the boundaries of the MDI fill area. When the user either
Restores Down of Minimizes the application the Child screens redraw fine
and it works fine. But as soon as they go to another Child screen they
have to do the same thing.

This is quite annoying and unfortunately all of these people are
managers in our company.

How can I get this to work out for our users?

Thanks,
Tim Shults

Hi, I have my windows-display-font-size set to "Large fonts" and I've created a new project with two forms. Both of them are 600 width and 400 height. One have autoscale=true and the other is false. When I run the project, the two forms shows the same size. Now I open the project (in vs.net) on a computer with windows-display-font-size set to "Small fonts" and my project is screwed up. Now the width is 501 and the height is...

I have strange issue where my form is being drawn the right size, but the ComboBox controls are being drawn larger than they are supposed to be. An example would be a ComboBox whose size is set to 232 x 21 is drawn as 293 x 24. Also, two buttons on the form end up outside of the form's visible bounds. This problem manifests itself on only a few machines out of 100's that have the application installed. Here's a link to a screenshot...

Hi, I have a problem regarding the Large fonts use for the apppliaction. I have a VB.NET application whose UI I have designed with settings of my computer having Small Fonts. But as I have changed the settings my controls in the form got disturbed. Some of them were not visible even though they were present. Also the text for some of the command buttons was not properly getting displayed.

My original program was targetted to Win98 when 800 x 600 was popular. Now converted to VB2005 pro and minimum will be 1024 x 768. I know about the autoresizing at run time but I want the form designer to be at 1024 x768. Naturally, after conversion from VB6, it is at 800 x 600 (actually 800 x 554 or thereabouts). Other than manually (and laboriously) moving all the controls, is there a better way to do it?

I saw a few posts on this newsgroup about it but nothing to help me resolve this problem: We designed a window in .NET on a platform using small fonts (120 ppp). But this window will run on servers configured with large fonts. For a reason I cant explain, not only the font changes when settings the window on large font but all the widgets seem to be resized. This is kind of problematic because I have to redraw (resize) all the widgets...

Hi all, Hope someone is able to help. I notice when I design a basic HTML page, it is affected if a WinXP user has Large Fonts set in their Control Panel. However some pages, e.g. www.bbc.co.uk/news are unaffected by this I think. They are definitely not affected by changing the font size within the browser. Because I want to add tables, which will word-wrap incorrectly if the font size is changed, how can I disable allowing the...

1. I've installed a bunch of fonts in main application, which is in native C++ code using AddFontResourceEx 2. A C# application is launched from this main application, but failed to enumerate those installed fonts. My issue is that I don't want those fonts to be used outside of the main application so that I've set the font characteristics as FR_PRIVATE. However, I want the C# application be able to use those fonts. Although the C# app...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
