Sizing form

Hi

how can I resize my form borders in .NET (either VB or
C#)?
In one of my programs I want to extend the usual form
size at one end (when the user clicks the "Details... "
button), so I need the window to 'grow'.
As I'm really new at .NET this is quite difficult for me.
Thanks for any help

If your using visual studios.net go to
border Attribute | border Property

-----------------------------------------------------------
---------------------

Sets or retrieves the properties to draw around the object.

Syntax

HTML { border : sBorder }
Scripting object.style.bo rder [ = sBorder ]

Possible Values

sBorder String that specifies or receives one or more of
the following space-delimited values:width Any of the
range of width values available to the borderWidth
property.
style Any of the range of style values available to the
borderStyle property.
color Any of the range of color values available to the
borderColor property.

The property is read/write. The property has a default
value of medium none. The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
attribute is not inherited.

Expressions can be used in place of the preceding value
(s), as of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5. For more
information, see About Dynamic Properties.

Remarks

The border property is a composite property that sets the
width, style, and color values for all four sides of an
object.

You must specify a style when specifying a width or color;
otherwise, the border does not render.

All individual border properties not set by the composite
border property are set to their default values. For
example, the default value for width is medium.

The setting border=thin is identical to border=thin none;
the default value for the border color is the same as the
text color if one is not initially set. So, not only does
the property set width to thin, it also clears any style
or color values previously set.

Setting a border to zero or omitting the attribute causes
no border to be displayed. Supplying the border attribute
without a value defaults to a single border.

As of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.5, this property
applies to inline elements. With earlier versions of
Internet Explorer, inline elements must have an absolute
position or layout to use this property. Element layout is
set by providing a value for the height property or the
width property.

If a color is not specified, the text color is used.

For more information about supported colors, see the Color
Table.

Examples

The following examples use the border attribute and the
border property to specify the composite border properties.
This example uses a call to an embedded (global) style
sheet to modify the border attribute.

Show Example

<HEAD>
<STYLE>
.applyBorder { border:0.2cm groove orange }
.removeBorder { border:none }
</STYLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<TABLE BORDER>
<TR>
<TD onmouseover="th is.className='a pplyBorder'"
onmouseout="thi s.className='re moveBorder'">
<IMG src="sphere.jpg "></TD>
</TR>
</TABLE>

This example uses inline scripting to modify the border
property.

<TD onmouseover="th is.style.border ='0.2cm groove pink'">

Is there a current "best practice" for text sizing? My goal is a have a web page (web application actually) which looks the same (more or less) on Mac IE5, PC IE6, Mozilla, Konqueror and Safari. (Not NS4!). The page should also scale for user preferance/accessibility reasons. Pixel-perfect layout is *not* a priority; indeed, I have already gone to considerable effort to use (and integrate) these 2 ideas

Hi I would like to add controls to my page at runtime. What containers can I use to host the controls? I know I can add them to the form controls collection, but I need to have control on where they are placed. For example I would like a page header and footer, menu on the left, text on the right and an area in the middle where I can add the controls, with the area sizing dynamically. Hope you can suggest some options.

Here's the most concise description I can give you of my problem... I'm trying to create a narrow form in Visual Basic.NET 2003. The form is about 95 pixels wide by 325 long. I resized it to these dimensions in the development environment. I've set the FormBorderStyle property to FixedSingle. I've set controlbox, minimizebox, and maximizebox to false because I don't want the form size to be tampered with, and because I want to make...

Have code that is called by my form re-size event. While the form borders are being dragged back and forth, this code will run continuosly, when it really only needs to run at the end of the re-size event. Someone on the Windowsforms group suggested testing in the re-size event to see if the mouse button is down - when it is released run the code. (at least that is how I understood it). I can't figure out how to detect mouse events which...

I am having trouble sizing a picture after inserting it into Word using VB.NET. I have a Windows form that allows a user to select several pictures from file. They can then export those pictures to a Word document. I can control the size of the picture on my form using a picture box, but how can I size it in Word, using VB.NET, after I have inserted it? I want to force the picture to a certain size. I tried using a template, but the...

Hi, Basically i've read that under C++ we can avoid flickering forms during sizing (maximize, minimize, restore,...) in SDi/MDI application. I understood that for that i need to override the WndProc with WM_PAINT and WM_SIZE messages. however, under MFC there is a useful method called SetRedraw(bool); it allows or not, to redraw the relative control.

I've always set form element sizes by using size on textfields and rows and cols on textareas. That's always lead to inconsistencies and a bit of guesswork when you want a form element to fill a fixed width and you want textfields to be as wide as textareas. Now, we can use a bit of CSS to set the width and for textareas also the height.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
