Creating user input forms, help...

I'm new to VB .NET. In the past when creating an application, if I
had an input form I would just call the set and get methods on the
object that mapped to my database table in order to store and retreive
the data for that form. I would manually set each field if the user
was editing a record and I would copy each field from the form into my
object when they click save.
I want to develop some new forms but this time I want to try to make
this a databound form. I have used databound grid controls before with
no problems, but I have never done it with input forms that just
consist of many text boxes, combo boxes, radio buttons, ect. I
understand how to databind these so they reteive data from the
database but how do I create new records from an initially empty form?
How can I force the entire form to be saved at once instead of after
they edit each field? How can I validate each field before they are
saved to the database?
Can anyone give me an overview of the best way to handle user input
forms in .NET or even better point me to an online tutorial?
Thanks.

I have been using phplib for a while and I really like the framework except for form creation. Maybe it is me but I in my opinion there isn't a good way to create forms or should I say, everything else is so well done that the way you create forms seems to be too cumbersome, in particular making it so that a pull down menu selects a value that you assign it. In any case, does anyone know of any php based (or other readily accepted web...

(originally posted to one of macromedia's groups; no help, so hopefully someone here can help me out. I'm using VBScript ASP.) When designing administrative interfaces to websites, we often need to provide users with a mechanism to change the order of items that are listed on the page. For example, the _New York Times_ website (http://www.nytimes.com) lists a bunch of top news articles, and normally these are ordered by purely mechanical...

I have 30 - 40 type of different window. For each type I need about 20 instances of the window. When I try to create them, I get "Error creating window handle" My guess is there is a maximum number of window handle, because if I reduce to about 2 instances of each window, it can run. But not 20 instances of each window. Does anyone know what the problem is? is it really because it exceeds the maximum number of window handle?

I have been having endless difficulty creating reports/queries that set any relevent parameters from controls in forms. I am creating an application under access 2003 but will target access 2000. The access file is in access 2000 format. I have a form that will hold the relevent parameters for the query/report that reports the statistics for all job records that match a certain criteria. These are: - A Customer Name.

hello, i am on an interesting project. in this project, i have to create dynamic data-entry forms for offline-users to fill out, save locally, and eventually postback to our app (when back online). data validation is required on the form. i had looked at using PDF-forms for this.. Adobe's "LifeCyle Forms" would work perfectly. with it one can pass in xml to their webservice & get back PDF-form binaries. however, Adobe's pricing is...

I have a form that excepts text input from a user. I would like to have the form display the same line several times so that the user can enter several different responses on one form screen. How can I display the same line of identical textfields five different times on the same form (each with a different line number)? Once this happens, how do I insert all of them into the same table? Thanks -- Message posted via...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
