Uploading a sql database on 1&1 host

1
I am trying to restore a sql file and get the following error message.

SQL query:

-- phpMyAdmin SQL Dump
-- version 2.11.6
-- http://www.phpmyadmin.net
--
-- Host: localhost
-- Generation Time: Jul 05, 2012 at 02:50 PM
-- Server version: 5.0.51
-- PHP Version: 5.2.6 SET SQL_MODE="NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO"

MySQL said:

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-- phpMyAdmin SQL Dump
-- version 2.11.6
-- http://www.phpmyadmin.net
--
-- H' at line 1

I am a total newbie and have no idea how to handle this.

Can someone give me a hint on what to do or where to start ?

If necessary I can provide the sql file by email or so.

Thank you
