How to deal with search queries that contain special characters.

I am needing help with a customer's request. I built a search function on their website that accesses a database that contains a list of Company Names. Similar to an online Yellow Book website.

The problem that I'm running into is that some of the Company names contain hyphens or apostrophes in them. For example, Trim-Guard. When a person searches for Trimguard it brings up that nothing was found. And the client would like to be able to make the search not so sensitive when it comes to search queries like this.

Is there a way that I can make this work?
