Last result of joined table

i have 2 table like these :

table 1 :
id    msg_id    status
1    1    pending
2    1    ok
3    2    pending
4    2    sending
 
 
table 2 :
id    msg_id    text
1    1    xxx
2    2    yyy
 

i need select this table to show message with their latest status :

msg_id    text    status
1    xxx    ok
2    xxx    sending

also i wrote an sql like this :
select * from (select s.id id,s.text text,t.status status,t.id statusid from
messages s join status t on s.id=t.msg_id order by statusid desc) as q group by id
