Design Question - Which Data Type

Hey guys, I got a column in my database called 'section' and the probable values it's going to contain look something like 001, 002, 500, 488 4A, 676 7B, etc

Which data type(and size) should I use?

Currently I'm thinking of var(size) or varchar(size)

Thanks :)

varchar looks a good choice at first glance but you have only given sample values rather than explain exactly what those values are representing or where they will be coming from. i.e a few examples are not sufficient to determine completely what the data type should be.

Thanks for your reply, I was leaning on varchar myself. I just needed some assurance.
