Database Table Design

114 100+
I am working on Company information system. We have number of companies and each company is associated with projects (projects executed by the company) and i also want to include human resource information against each company. But the problem here is that i need to classify the human resource information into its subcategories like if a Company has an Engineer then I need to classify it into civil, electrical, or mechanical and masters, degree or diploma and national or non-national. Now how should i design my table in this context. Should i have a table for engineer differently or can it be done all in one... i mean can i have a single table where i can store engineer details as well as manager and other supporting staff details. If i store all in one the problem is that other staff apart from engineer donot have degree or diploma in civil, electrical... And if i have to talk about drivers they donot have any categorization like above...i mean they have different categorization like light and heavy.

So any help on this would be appreciated.

My guess is that no one has replied to your post to help you yet, because what you are asking for is too general. My suggestion is that you pick up one of the many available good books on database design, read it, and then try to make a design, and then present it here if you have any specific difficulties with it.
