Would Version 5.0 be pushing it?

Opinions appreciated!

Should we consider version 5.0?
How close is this version to prime time?
What kind of hassles to expect with this compared with the production
version 4.1?

This is a production environment BUT it is new and we don't have to worry
about backward compatability.

I love MySQL but lack of stored procedures has been keeping us away.
Should it?

"MySQL 5.0 -- Development release (use this for previewing and testing
new features)"

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/index.html

IMHO, using development releases in ones own development is dangerous.
It is dangerous, because if the development version starts suffering
from some weird problems which are hard to fix, the development of the
project can be freeze complitely untill the problems are fixed in the
version which is used.

And if it doesn't freeze your project complitely, it can make it harder
to continue, because you might need to update the development version of
the MySQL often, which increases the amount of work and also makes
things more difficult. Also, sometimes you might need to spent lot of
time finding a bug in your software, which isn't actually a bug in your
software. I have seen this happening with one project (not database
related).

I'm using 5.+

Very stable and some nice features. Stored procudures cannot be called using
the currnet ODBC driver. So I don't know how PHP calls the procs and gets
error codes returned. I write a lot of VB code and would like to return SP
error codes. Can't do it, or at least I don't how
