mailing.database.mysql is simply a mirror of a mailing list. You can
post (like I'm doing now) but almost noone will see your post, since
people are reading the mailing list, not the usenet group.

There is a real usenet group (comp.databases.mysql) in the process of
being created right now. So please vote 'yes' if there is a call for
votes for that group.

I'm sure there is a FAQ about newsgroups somewhere, something will turn
up if you google for it. Also, have a look around in
news.announce.newgroups. At the moment, comp.databases.mysql is in the
RFD (Request For Discussion) stage, with a call for votes following
later, if I understand it correctly.
