selecting individual columns of metadata

Does anyone know if it's possible in mySQL to do something like this:

SELECT Name,Comment FROM (SHOW TABLE STATUS FROM myDB)

I know the above isn't valid, but it gets the idea across. Just
curious if there's a way to return only portions of the result set
that's returned from metadata queries.

Thanks in advance!
