Problem Starting mysqld

Hello,

I just installed version 4.0.21 on a Mandrake 8.2 system. I cannot
get the MySql daemon to run. I am using the following commands, and
receiving these errors:

$mysqld_safe --user=mysql
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
STOPPING server from pid file /var/lib/mysql/JBrain.pid
040921 09:01:55 mysqld ended

$mysqld
040921 9:02:19 Warning: Asked for 196608 thread stack, but got 126976
Fatal error: Please read "Security" section of the manual to find out
how to run mysqld as root!
040921 9:02:19 Aborting

040921 9:02:19 mysqld: Shutdown Complete

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I may be able to fix this
problem? I've looked through the newsgroups, but haven't been able to
find a solution to this problem. Thank you in advance.

Have you read the "Security" section of the manual to find out how to
run mysqld as root?

Start here:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Se...st_attack.html

Read the bulleted item that begins, "Don't run the MySQL server as the
Unix root user."
