Peformance

Greetings,
I'm running Mysql 3.23.56 on a PII with 192MB Ram. It is running Freebsd
and
is connected to my home 10/100 cat 5 network. All computers are connected
to
a 10/100 ethernet switch.

I have a database with 4 tables and a total of roughly 4000 records in the
entire database.
Each table is defined with a primary key. Some are composite keys (multiple
fields). Some
are single field keys.

I have been experiencing poor performance from this setup. Do I need to
define indexes in these tables ? Or are keys sufficient.

thanks for any help.
