how to get Mysql table list ? (sysobject like)

Hi,
Is there a way to get VIA SQL the table list for a specified database ?
Same thing for the database list ... and.... column list

Something that could look like scanning the syabse sysobject table ?

Atleast from mysql console you can write:

show databases;

# And when you have selected database:
show tables;

describe yourTableName;
