mysqlcheck performance

I launch the command line:
"mysqlcheck --repair dbname" over a database with only one myisam
table of more than 10.000.000 rows and 5 GB. The elapsed time to
repair is about 1 hour!
Is possible to increase speed?
Thanks.

Besides your servers performance (is anything else other than MySQL running
on the box keeping it busy?) I am also wondering if you have too many (or
too few) indexes/keys... I'm a newbie so I could be sending you on a false
path, but it is something I would look in to if I were in the same boat...
