What are these ib* binary files?

Ben
I notice in the mysql/data directory the following binary files:
ib_arch_log_0000000000
ib_logfile0
ib_logfile1
ibdata1

Some are rather large. I can't seem to find any explanation in the
documentation. What are they? What needs to be done with them?

Thank,
Ben
