hi ,
I have not seen table structure but if you can chage the stored data as

cat_id cat_name
1 sin-music dir-Lyric

2 singer-music dir

3 music-dir--sing


Like this you can solve your problem

can you join on CAT_ID and MEMBER_ID

Any ways , You can not because join feilds should cantain same type of data in it . that is why i told you that if you can chage your data in category table it would be more easier for you .....
