Ordering row listings from a database

Edd
Hi,

I have developed a pretty basic HTML menu management system using a
MySQL database. I would like to be able to change the order in which
the items in the menu appear when they are selected from the database.

I had the idea of adding a numerical 'order' field to the menu table
and then in the SQL using :

"ORDER BY 'order'"

Of course this is fine until I need to move items up or down the list.
I would like to have buttons next to each menu item that say 'Move up'
and 'Move down'.

Is there a PHP command I could use that would simplify things for
me...?

If anyone has any ideas or experience they wouldn't mind sharing (!)
then it'd be massively appreciated!

Kind regards,
Edd
