Use MySQL as part of a Web page

Hello, all -

I would be interested in hearing opinions on how easy or difficult it it to
use MySQL as part of a Web page. I have no experience with MySQL, but I have
experience with MS Access and VB. The project that I'd like to put together
is an online ordering facility for videotapes, not too many concurrent users
and relatively low volume as these things go.

I am also interested in how one would go about integrating the MySQL
database with a site constructed with MS FrontPage (2000 or 2002).

It isn't possible at all in the way you state the problem! What you
do is use a server side language with an API for MySQL to query the
database and sent the result to the client as html. The server side
language can be anything you want it it has an API for MySQL, but
PHP is very popular because it has such access built right in and
is fairly easy to learn.

learning curve while you learn to look at things from a different
angle. Once the curve is over you have the advantage that MySQL
serves data a lot faster than Access.

Took me about six months to move over, but once I got the idea the
next few projects went nice and fast.

You have to learn three things, though: MySQL, PHP, and html. All
well worth learning, though.
