Mysql Database create problem

Hi,

I'm new to the world of mysql and i'm having alot of trouble with it.

All i want to do is create a page with a response form, e.g. name etc
and some radio buttons (part of a uni project, but i'm a chemist!) and
a submit button to save the data in a database.

I installed iss microsoft web server and php and the mysql database.
Php works fine, i could write to a text file, and using phpinfo(); it
says everythings ok and a mysql section is there, so i'm guessing
mysql is installed ok.

The php script to insert info etc in to databases seems easy enough,
but i have no idea how to create a database!
I searched everywhere, but could find nothing, most mysql tutorials
just brush past it and go onto the editing of a databse, but i have no
database!

Can anybody help me to how to create a simple mysql database, i.e. 1
table with a few forms in.

Also, this database is being used as a survey, so its sorta essential
that i can extract the data afterwards, again, could find no info!

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks, Jon

Maybe you missed the MySQL Documentation:

Hi, thanks for your help. I found that but couldnt make much sense of
it, mainly since the:

mysql -h host -u user -p
Enter password: ********

bit in the shell didnt work, it says:

Error 2005: Unknown Mysql server Host host (11001).

the documentation says:

To connect to the server, you'll usually need to provide a MySQL user
name when you invoke mysql and, most likely, a password. If the server
runs on a machine other than the one where you log in, you'll also
need to specify a hostname. Contact your administrator to find out
what connection parameters you should use to connect (that is, what
host, user name, and password to use). Once you know the proper
parameters, you should be able to connect like this:

shell> mysql -h host -u user -p
Enter password: ********

not to sure whats the program with the host/user or what to put. my
p.c is part of a 5 comuter student house/home network. I.e. 1 server
running internet connection sharing to the 4 rooms.

I thinks thats my problem now.

Again, any more help would be much appreciated, Jon
