Display of tables on mysql client

Is there any option of formatting the columns of tables so that for
example only 5 characters of each column is displayed?(also is there
any way to set no wrapping)

That is in order to get a proper output of tables in a win98 DOS
prompt.
I know that Oracle SQL gives you such options.

Thanks in advance,
Alexis
