This is of the top of my head but may be worth a try
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. SELECT `name`,`book`,`date` FROM `profile`
  2. JOIN `transaction` USING(`id`)
  3. GROUP BY `transaction`.`id`
  4. ORDER BY `date` DESC

Try this query:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.
  2. SELECT p.id,p.name,t.book,t.date FROM profile p,transaction t WHERE t.date = (SELECT MAX(date) FROM transaction WHERE id = p.id GROUP BY id)
  3.
