MySQL newbie

1
Hi all

Within my orgnaisation there are a few instances of MySQL but these are not currently managed by my team (SQL DBAs). We have been told that we will need to manage them in future so i've started to do a bit of research.

A few questions i have:

- Is there a nice GUI (like MS SQL Enterprise Manager) that will allow me to administer databases - for example backups, creating users, viewing data, etc.

- Can you schedule backups in MySQL?

- Can you do transactional backups in MySQL?

- Can you configure jobs in MySQL?

- Can you configure alerting for things like failed jobs, full transaction logs, etc etc?

- Where is the best sources of information for MySQL?

Thanks!
