ALTER syntax

1
I am quite new to MySQL.

I have a tool in mysql. There is a table with 3 columns project id ,issue id and handler id .Ihave to use ALTER acommand in a way that it has some dependency .
In the table i have to autoincrement issue id where project is is 3.
Just to autoincrement issueid the following commands work.
ALTER TABLE tablename AUTOINCREMENT=100.
but to use in the conditional way ,i don't know how to use.

Be very careful when playing around with the AUTO_INCREMENT option! This option is primarily there to generate a unique identity for new rows.

You can use it for other purposes, but the way (as I understand) you use it can be desastrous.

Or maybe I do not fully understand your situation. If so, please explain a bit more on how you use this option.
